Jammu & Kashmir medium pacer Auqib Nabi has issued a notice to domestic cricket batters with his stunning spell for North Zone against East Zone in the first quarter-final of the 2025 Duleep Trophy at BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1 in Bengaluru on Friday, August 29. It was his first appearance in the red-ball competition, and Nabi took four wickets in four balls to record a double hat-trick. The 28-year-old was the top wicket-taker in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, taking 44 wickets in eight games. He's taken it to some of Indian cricket's best batters as well. Nabi arrived as the first-change bowler on Friday following Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana's share of the new ball. The seamer went wicketless in his opening eight overs before taking five wickets between 13 balls. Nabi claimed the wickets of Virat Singh, Manishi, and Mukhtar Hussain off the last three balls of the 53rd over. With the first ball of the 55th over, Nabi bowled Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal. Baramulla's budding cricketer finished his five-for when he removed Mohammed Shami in his next over. He also delivered a maiden, besides unsettling the East Zone batsmen with his faultless swing and seam. Riyan Parag and Co. were dismissed for 230 in their first innings, leaving North Zone with a handsome lead of 175 runs. Nabi became part of the elite club of Indian bowlers to take four wickets in four balls in first-class cricket. Shankar Saini, Mohammad Mudhasir, and Kulwant Khejroliya were the previous ones to have attained the marvelous feat before him.
