The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India has released Ravindra Jadeja of his Team B duty for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, which starts on September 5. No reason was cited for this, but Jadeja remains in contention for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh later in the season. The fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik will also be absent in the domestic event due to illness. While Navdeep Saini replaces Siraj in Team B and in Team C, Gaurav Gupta takes the place of Umran. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has still not announced Jadeja's replacement. Umran was recovering from dengue and joined practice at the NCA recently, saying that he was fully focused on his performance in the Duleep Trophy. Still, it appears like he started developing more health issues and has hence been ruled out of this tournament. It will be held at two venues, Anantapur of Andhra Pradesh, and M Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru. Star players who will play in it include Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav. However, star cricketers Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested for upcoming Test matches.
