With the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 knocking at the doorstep, Purani Dilli 6 star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, their big-ticket player and INR 21 lakh retained player, has been disqualified from participation in the tournament due to a fractured metatarsal on his right foot. The injury was sustained during the 4th Test against England at Old Trafford when Pant gallantly walked out to bat on Day 2 in spite of the injury, making a half-century. The injury now renders him unavailable for at least six weeks. The loss of Pant is a major blow, not just for Purani Dilli 6, but the entire DPL. His presence not only provided star power but also tactical advantage to the team. Pant played only in the first clash in DPL 2024, scoring 35 from 32 balls. However, he was supposed to play a greater role this year, more so with no international series scheduled for Team India in August. In spite of his premature DPL 2024 exit, Purani Dilli 6 placed great trust in Pant for the next season. Also Read: Will Pakistan play at the 2028 Olympics? What do the rules say? Bedi now holds the onus of steering a talented team that reached the semi-finals last season and is desperate to retain the much-coveted title this season. For his part, team owner Akash Nangia believes in the leadership capabilities of Bedi. The side also made PUMA their official jersey sponsor and Radio Mirchi their official radio partner for Season 2. Purani Dilli 6 will start their DPL 2025 journey on August 5 against Outer Delhi Warriors at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The side will face West Delhi Lions, New Delhi Tigers, and South Delhi Superstarz.
