India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal once again demonstrated his class as he smashed a spectacular century against West Indies in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. The young left-handed batter registered a fluent hundred full of crisp shots and confidence. Post Day 2, Jaiswal greeted West Indies legend Brian Lara, who couldn't help himself but heap praise upon the 23-year-old. Lara lightheartedly plead Jaiswal saying, “Don’t beat our bowlers that bad,” to which the humble youngster replied, “I’m just trying, sir.” Jaiswal’s innings comprised of 22 fours from 258 balls, showcasing patience and skill. He looked set for a double century before an unfortunate run-out mix-up with captain Shubman Gill ended his knock early on Day 2. In a video posted on the BCCI's social media handle, he explained: "I always put the team first, how I can play for my team and what is important for my team at that moment in time... if I have a start, I make sure that I should make it big." The left-hander also complimented Sai Sudharsan, who made 87 runs in pressure situations. I think he played really well." The duo's 193-run second-wicket partnership was instrumental in establishing India's dominant position in the match. Jaiswal and Gill's Strategy to Combat the New Ball Jaiswal also shared words on his association with Shubman Gill, who went on to score a masterful 129 off 196 balls. The two players put on 74 runs for the third wicket, playing confidently against the new ball. He said: "Gill bhai has batted amazingly as always... If there is a new ball, we should go for runs, and it was very nice to bat with him." India closed their innings at 518/5, with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Dhruv Jurel contributing importantly.
