India's thumping victory over England at Edgbaston was a one for the records. Shubman Gill and his men hammered England by 336 runs, securing a 1-1 draw in the series. But amidst the joy and post-match chatter, a shocking moment was delivered by former English cricketer turned Afghanistan coach Jonathan Trott. While talking about India’s performance on Sony Sports Network, Trott accidentally mentioned the address of cricketing stalwart Virat Kohli’s house in London. This slip caught viewers off guard, especially as Kohli has kept a very private life since stepping away from Test and T20I cricket. In doing this, he added that Kohli resides in Notting Hill, only 2.5 miles from St. John's Wood in London. This piece of information, though possibly known in some quarters, had never before been mentioned so lightly on live television. Trott said: “Doesn’t he live in St. John’s Wood or nearby? Can he not be persuaded to come back? Coming back to Virat Kohli's tweet, no wonder he misses that dressing room feeling. I sometimes wonder how quickly that feeling comes back after you give up the game." As per a Telegraph report, Kohli and his family have been residing in the UK post IPL 2025 victory celebration in Bengaluru. He has not made many public appearances except during Royal Challengers Bangalore's victory celebrations for IPL 2025. Even before the England series started, Kohli had invited some of the Indian players to his London residence. Soon after India's historic victory at Edgbaston, Kohli complimented Shubman Gill's captaincy and batting and also appreciated Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj's excellent performances with the ball. India's victory was their first at Edgbaston and, additionally, the first by an Asian side at the stadium. It was a moment of pride, and although Kohli was not playing, his presence of mind and encouragement for the team were definitely there.
