Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has openly criticized Cricket West Indies (CWI) for their decision to remove Rovman Powell as the T20I captain. CWI recently announced that Shai Hope would take over as the new T20I captain, replacing Powell. This decision follows another leadership change in West Indies cricket, as Test captain Kraigg Brathwaite also recently stepped down. DJ Bravo took to social media to express his disapproval of Powell’s removal. He called the move one of the worst decisions by the board and pointed out Powell’s success as captain, under whom West Indies climbed from ninth to third in the T20I rankings. Bravo also urged the board to be more transparent and logical in their decision-making. He also acknowledged Powell's contribution as the leader. "His leadership has left a strong foundation, and we are grateful for his efforts," Bascombe said. Sammy, who himself was a successful captain for the West Indies, expressed confidence in Shai Hope’s leadership. He praised Hope’s ability to stay composed under pressure, calling it a key quality for a captain. "Shai is a strong believer in team performances, and his meticulous preparation, coupled with his calm and composed demeanour under pressure, makes him an ideal leader at this stage," Sammy stated. Powell led West Indies in 37 matches, winning 19 of them, making him the second most successful men's T20I captain in West Indies history. The only captain ahead of him is Daren Sammy, who won 27 matches out of 47 as skipper.
