With hours for India's Champions Trophy run to begin, fresh fumes showed up as a senior wicketkeeper expressed his dissatisfaction with the head coach Gautam Gambhir for not giving a chance to display his skills in the ODIs. As all rumors suggest, Rishabh Pant's name, the star batter, hasn't played a single ODI in the three-match ODI series against England. Despite Rishabh being chosen as the first-choice wicketkeeper for the Champions Trophy, GG later, by his actions and words, confirmed that KL Rahul will play. Reports are suggesting that Rishabh has expressed his frustration amongst his teammates, saying that he deserved a chance. However, he wouldn't have questioned the team's choice if he had failed to perform. A Times of India report said that sources say the wicketkeeper feels that some external sources are working for him to get benched. According to the source, "Sources have exclusively confirmed to Times Now that a current India wicketkeeper is unhappy with head coach Gautam Gambhir. The player is currently not the first choice in the playing XI for ODIs. He feels that there is an external reason behind him losing his spot in the 50-over format." Meanwhile, Rishabh suffered a blow on his knee on the first day of practice in Dubai and was limping, even though he managed to bat in the nets later. During the team selection meeting, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that Pant will play as the first-choice keeper. But Gambhir backed Rahul. In the first two ODIs against England, Rahul could not score coming at 6. However, in the third ODI, coming at 5, he scored a good number of 40 runs. Throughout his career, Rahul has predominantly played as an opening batter, but he has adapted effortlessly to a middle-order role. Serving as India's designated wicketkeeper-batter in ODIs, the Karnataka cricketer has amassed 1,438 runs at an impressive average of 51.35 and a strike rate of 92.17. The scenario looks like this: unless KL does way too bad, Rishabh will sit outside throughout the tournament. Notably, India will kick start their run in the Champions Trophy on February 20 against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
