On Day 4 of the first Test between Sri Lanka and Australia at the Galle International Stadium, there was a rather bizarre and unexpected dismissal that left fans and pundits alike in shock. Sri Lankan opener Dimuth Karunaratne, known for his composure and solid technique, had a rare brain fade moment that cost him his wicket in an unusual fashion. Faced with Todd Murphy in the fourth over of Sri Lanka's second innings, Karunaratne misjudged a straightforward delivery. Murphy bowled a full-length ball just outside the off-stump, with slight drift towards the batter. Karunaratne, expecting it to turn away, nonchalantly decided to shoulder arms. However, it did not quite do that as it skidded straight on with the arm. To the horror of Karunaratne, it crashed into his off-stump and sent the bails flying. The Sri Lankan captain got out for a duck, facing just four balls. Murphy was over the moon, celebrating the crucial breakthrough as Australia removed both Sri Lankan openers in quick succession. Now, Sri Lanka was down by three wickets early, plus dark clouds could bring rain: the match from there looked ominous for Sri Lanka. With Sri Lanka lagging miles behind and a possibility of rain looming on the horizon, nothing less than a miracle would be enough to help the hosts win the match.
