Controversies are not leaving the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy as new drama evolved regarding the pitch provided to both teams for practice. According to reports, India has been provided a pitch, which is apparently old, where the ball is not getting enough bounce, making it tough for batters to leave. Those pitches have enough patches, while the pitch provided for Australia is visibly clean. India landed in Melbourne on December 19 and had a practice session that day and later on December 20. Even Akash Deep, the Indian bowler, pointed out that the pitches are specially designed for white-ball cricket. In a press conference, Akash said, “I feel these wickets are meant for white-ball cricket. The bounce was low, and it was difficult for batters to leave deliveries." On the contrary, the pitches provided to the Pat Cummins-led Australian side were pretty fast and had a good bounce in them. Matt Pags denied claims, saying none of the teams got new pitches. Pags clarified that news pitches are provided only three days before the Test. He said, “We got the schedule of the Indian team well ahead. But we usually give match-centric wickets three days before the match. It’s applicable for all teams." Notably, in the Indian camp, two injury concerns came. One of KL Rahul who got a hit on his wrist and Rohit Sharma whose knee was smacked. India will play the fourth Test on December 26.
