Before making his Test debut, India wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel claimed that captain Rohit Sharma had asked him to play his shots only when he was absolutely sure about them. The 22-year-old Jurel was selected for Tests against England earlier this year. In Ranchi, he put up an amazing show, reminding everyone of the hometown hero, MS Dhoni. It was Dhruv Jurel's first call-up to the Indian team, and he was bit nervous to face seniors such as Rohit Sharma for the very first time. Rohit could sense that the youngster was scared and called him to speak to him freely during practice time. Here's what Jurel said during his interview on TV presenter Jatin Sapru's YouTube channel. “I had eye contact with Rohit bhaiya on many occasions, but I couldn't muster the courage to talk to him. Then, he casually called me, 'idhar aa! (come here!)'. Then he said, 'Kya ho gaya? Sab badhiya? Tere me dum hai isliye tu aaya hai, tere me potential hai. Aaram se reh, bindaas. Pehli ball maarni hai, maar. This young batsman also played two T20Is against Zimbabwe in July. The right-hander spoke about an incident that occurred during practice when he was hit on the shoulder. The two senior players, Axar Patel and Shreyas Iyer, walked up to him and shook his hand, though not very seriously. He added, “I was in the nets facing Raghu bhai and I hit him for a very good drive. The very next ball, he gave me a scorching bouncer on the shoulder. Then, Axar and Iyer came to shake my hand. I was surprised that why are they shaking hands with me. They just said, ‘Welcome to Indian cricket," Dhruv Jurel played for India A against India B in the Duleep Trophy but only scored 2 and 0 in his two innings. He has been called up for the first Test against Bangladesh but might not play if Rishabh Pant will be there behind the wickets.
