Pacer Deepak Chahar was packed by Mumbai Indians (MI) at a staggering INR 9.25 crore in the mega auction of IPL 2025, which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. However, the seam-bowling all-rounder recently claimed that he wanted to play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The Super Kings arranged a reunion with Chahar and put in the final bid at INR 9 crore. But Mumbai was keen to rope in the services of the 32-year-old Rajasthan cricketer. After playing for the Rajasthan Royals, Rising Pune Supergiant, and CSK, Mumbai Indians will now be the fourth IPL franchise of Chahar. Interestingly, the cricketer admitted that he wanted to remain with the yellow brigade for more reasons, which would be due to support gained from cricketing legend in his career, MS Dhoni. But my name came on the second day at the auction, so I had a fair idea that it would be difficult for me to get back to CSK. They had a low purse, but still bid till INR 9 crore despite a purse of INR 13 crore," The right arm pacer's name cropped up on Day 2 of the mega auction on Monday, November 25. CSK by then had spent most of their purse and were left with only INR 13 crore in their kitty. He admitted that he knew it was going to be tough for the five-time champions to resign him from the position. "I had made up my mind that it would be difficult. Last year, my name came first, that's why it was easier to get back to CSK," he said. Deepak Chahar has played 81 IPL games, picking 77 wickets at 28.84. He would be playing alongside Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and captain Hardik Pandya at the Mumbai Indians. The seasoned campaigner would want to have a good season and push his case for an India recall.
