David Warner has expressed strong belief in Australia’s chances of winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 despite facing major injury setbacks. The tournament kicks off on February 19, with Australia set to begin their campaign against England on February 22. Warner, who retired from international cricket earlier this year, is confident that his former teammates can rise to the occasion and deliver under pressure. Australia has been presently on a trembling boat. With multiple injuries hanging in front, the team does not seem as fiery as it does. The injury queue started in the Border Gavaskar Trophy with their prime man, Pat Cummins, still battling an ankle injury. Pace spearhead Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out due to a hip issue, while all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will also miss the tournament with a lower-back injury. Adding to the concerns, Marcus Stoinis announced his retirement just before the event. Despite bruises, Warner trusts Australia’s depth and experience in global tournaments will help them overcome these obstacles. In a virtual press conference with Reuters, he said, "Australia are very good in the World Cups and Champions Trophies and in tournament play. So, the Australian team knows how to win. They know how to succeed. It doesn't matter what players they play. The guys are all built with playing under pressure. So, I think, whoever replaces those guys would do very well and the team in general would do great as well." Senior players Steve Smith and Travis Head are being considered for the role. While Smith has prior leadership experience, Head has been in top form and could bring fresh energy to the squad. A final decision is expected before the team’s first match. Australia has a rich history in the Champions Trophy, having won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2009 under Ricky Ponting’s leadership. However, they have struggled in the tournament since then, failing to win a single game in the last two editions. This year, they will be eager to break that streak and reaffirm their dominance in ODI cricket.
