Sri Lankan all-rounder and former skipper Dasun Shanaka is facing some serious legal trouble as Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has started an investigation probe into an allegation that the all-rounder faked his concussion to skip the domestic match and play in the ILT20 2025 match for Dubai Capitals. Shanaka was playing in a three-day domestic match for Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in the Major League Tournament but decided to leave the game on the 2nd day citing a concussion as the reason. But just hours after this incident, the former Sri Lankan captain was seen playing for Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 league match. The charge sheet of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) stated that first-clash match referee Wendell Labrooy was pushed to believe that Shanaka had suffered a concussion in the league game against the Moore Sports Club and in that circumstance he had to approve the substitute for him. Dasun Shanaka later clarified about this incident and revealed that both the SLC CEO and the club knew that he had to leave that day and he would feature in the ILT20 fixture. As quoted by the Hindustan Times, Shanaka said: “SLC and the club knew I had to leave. I only came back because there was a request from the SSC to play this first-class match. But my other team wanted me back, as I'd helped win two games for them earlier in the tournament.” Shanaka was representing SSC in that domestic game against Moore Sports Club in which he bowled 21 overs across the first two days of the match for his club and was unbeaten on 39 at the end of Day 2 but continued his innings on the third day and scored a blistering 123-run knock before leaving the field.
