Samoa wicketkeeper-batter Darius Visser achieved a milestone in men's T20Is by breaking the record for most runs scored in an over. The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier A action saw 39 runs scored in a single over against Vanuatu. He smacked six magnificent sixes in the 15th over of the match, with three no-balls from Vanuatu seamer Nalin Nipiko helping the cause. He suprassed India's former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh's record of six sixes, which yielded 36 runs in an over against England's Stuart Broad during the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. Here, Visser also broke the record set by Kieron Pollard in 2021, Nicholas Pooran in 2024, and Dipendra Singh Airee in 2024, all having scored 36 runs in an over. Visser then muscled 3 straight sixes, and the fourth legitimate delivery also sailed over the boundary ropes, to push the Samoan total of 100. Nipiko then bowled a dot ball on the fifth delivery of the over to try and break Visser's rhythm. The 28-year-old carried on regardless and hit a six off the third no-ball of the over to bring up his hundred. He also hit another six to finish off the over and, hence, broke a record by becoming the first player from Samoa to hit a hundred in international cricket.
