The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has made an exciting move by recalling star batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India, all in preparation for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. The Three Lions have also brought in the in-form Maia Bouchier, with the series kicking off on Thursday, May 28. Wyatt-Hodge hasn’t played for England this summer due to the recent birth of her daughter. Before taking a break to spend time with her wife, she managed to play a few games for Surrey in the One Day Cup. Now, at 35, she’s set to rejoin the national team for the last two matches of the series. As a key player for England, it’s crucial for Wyatt-Hodge to get some competitive international action before the big tournament. "Danni Wyatt-Hodge will join the England Women squad ahead of the three-match Vitality IT20 series with India and will be available for the final two matches. As a result Charis Pavely has now returned to Warwickshire. Maia Bouchier has been added to the squad for the India series, while Lauren Filer has been released to play for Durham against Surrey on Wednesday before returning to the squad for the rest of the India series,” an official ECB statement read. The 21-year-old didn’t add to her two T20I caps, which she earned back in 2024. Meanwhile, Bouchier has also been called up for the T20I series against India. Although the Hampshire batter won’t be part of England’s Women’s T20 World Cup squad, she has played three T20 matches against New Zealand and serves as a valuable backup for the Lionesses, especially if Nat Sciver-Brunt continues to be sidelined with her recent injury. The recall of Danni Wyatt-Hodge and the inclusion of Maia Bouchier by the England Women’s cricket team clearly show their determination to bolster the squad ahead of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. With key players returning and others stepping up, the series against the India Women’s cricket team presents vital opportunities for preparation and team building.
