Cricket West Indies (CWI) has given multi-year contracts to some of the best male and female cricketers such as the men's ODI captain Shai Hope and women's white-ball captain Hayley Matthews. In light of a new four-year Memorandum of Understanding signed between CWI and the West Indies Players Association in January 2024. All the contracts will start on 1st October, 2024. The yearly contract players will end their contracts on 30th September, 2025. Players on more than one-deal contracts will have the deal to run up to 30th September, 2026. A total of 15 players under the men's squad signed the two-year contracts, while six accepted the multi-year deals. Following Hope, other cricketers who received contracts for a couple of years with the men's team are Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Gudakesh Motie, and Jayden Seales. Under the women's team, there are Matthews and Stafanie Taylor, as well as Shemaine Campbelle, all as joint holders of multi-year contracts. I'd like to congratulate the entire contracted cohort on their performances in the last assessment period, and I look forward to them building on those in next one." Kemar Roach, who is a seasoned fast bowler and not included in the list, is negotiating a role involving playing and mentoring duties to be taken up during his transition to the next phase of his career. On his first central contract was awarded to batter Kavem Hodge, after a crucial innings of 71 in the West Indies' Test win against Australia earlier this year, their first victory there in 28 years. He also scored his maiden Test century against England at Trent Bridge in July. Allrounder Roston Chase was the only other new face added to the men's contracts list after his key performances in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the West Indies made it to the Super Eight. Tagenarine Chanderpaul did not receive a central contract and will play for the Guyana Harpy Eagles on a franchise retainer. Allrounder Ashmini Munisar received her first West Indies contract for the women's team.
