Chennai Super Kings finally got their two points for the second time in this season of IPL as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets at the Ekana Stadium. Before some abuses start raining on Shivam Dube for not giving the final strike to MS Dhoni, it must be clearly mentioned that Dube holds a good amount of credit for CSK's winning after 5 consecutive defeats. That man stayed calm, hit shots whenever required, and rotated strikes—even at one point, Dhoni himself was seen asking Dube to calm down after he hit a boundary. Shivam Dube scored 43 runs off 37 balls, hitting 3 boundaries and 2 sixes, maintaining a strike rate of around 116. But MS Dhoni added the real support, with the bat and with the advice. The big man scored a paced 26 runs that came off just 11 balls ornamented with four boundaries and one six. And there might be a bit of concern with his knees, as again he was seen limping while he took the last run before Dube hit the winning four. CSK had a decent 167 runs to chase. And no doubt for shadowing the newcomer Shaikh Rasheed. The young talent gave the early necessary start, quickfiring 27 runs before Avesh Khan ended his innings with a slower ball. Rachin Ravindra added 37 runs off 22 balls, after which came another middle-order falter. Rahul Tripathi, despite getting two lives, departed scoring 9. Ravindra Jadeja walked in early today but scored 9. Vijay Shankar managed 9 runs! For the LSG bowlers, Ravi Bishnoi was really impressive, chipping two wickets and having an economy of around 6. Digvesh Rathi once again pulled off a miserly innings, getting 1 wicket and giving 23 runs in four overs. Avesh Khan and Aiden Markram got one each. After early hiccups, with Aiden Markram (6) and Nicholas (*) Pooran departing cheaply, Pant took charge and stitched together crucial partnerships with Ayush Badoni (22) and Abdul Samad. Samad's 20 off just 11 balls gave LSG the final push as they ended with 166/7 in their 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh’s start promised more but ended prematurely, while Abdul Samad’s cameo added much-needed late runs. Despite his figures reading 1 for 38, Khaleel Ahmed bowled with pace and intent, troubling the LSG top order early on. Anshul Kamboj and Ravindra Jadeja provided tight spells, with Jadeja’s double strike stalling the LSG middle order. Noor Ahmad stood out with an economical 4-over spell, conceding just 13. LSG will face Rajasthan Royals on April 19 in Jaipur, while CSK's next assignment is in Mumbai against their arc rival Mumbai Indians
