Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that the majority of the franchise’s overseas players will return for the final stretch of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which resumes on Saturday, May 17. The tournament had been suspended for a week due to escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. With the league stage nearing its conclusion, Viswanathan provided a crucial update about the squad’s composition, especially with regard to international players. He confirmed that everyone, except Sam Curran and Jamie Overton, are available for the remainder of the season. CSK will be counting on the return of their foreign contingent as they look to finish the season on a high. The all-rounder has been named in both ODI and T20I squads, ruling him out of CSK’s last two league matches. What has drawn more curiosity is the non-return of Sam Curran. Despite being left out of England’s squad for the West Indies series, Curran has opted against rejoining the Chennai-based franchise. CSK has not elaborated on the reason behind his decision, and it remains unclear whether it is due to personal reasons or due to security. He also has picked up one wicket in the tournament so far. Curran, who has been batting in the number three spot has done well with the bat so far. However, his performance with the ball has been a concern for CSK. CSK currently has Dewald Brevis, Nathan Ellis, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Noor Ahmad and Matheesha Pathirana in their list. All the players are expected to join the squad soon. Meanwhile, CSK has won three matches and has lost nine out of their 12 matches. They are currently in the bottom place of the points table.
