With the IPL 2025 retention deadline approaching, speculations regarding player trades are gaining center stage, and one of the hottest topics of discussion seems to be about Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson potentially making a move to Chennai Super Kings. A report by Cricbuzz says the trade offer for Samson “is back on the CSK table.” However, when asked about the development, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told IANS, “No, not likely, not likely.” The official said there could be more clarity about trade developments in the next few days. The IPL 2025 retention deadline is on November 15, and all eyes are on possible high-profile trades before that date. There have been reports since July that Samson could be traded to either CSK or Delhi Capitals. Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has been one of RR's key players. A move to another franchise would be a big headline ahead of the IPL 2026 mega auction. Also Read | Sanju Samson to Join CSK? RR and CSK in Talks Over Shocking Player Exchange Dhoni Likely to Play IPL 2026 for CSK In other big news, MS Dhoni is set to play in the 2026 IPL season for CSK. Franchise CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that the veteran cricketer is "likely to play" in the next edition. Dhoni, who has been the heartbeat of CSK since the IPL's inception in 2008, returned as captain midway through the 2025 season after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out with an elbow injury. However, it turned out to be a tough season for the Chennai team, finishing right at the bottom of the points table with only four wins in 14 matches. Viswanathan said: "He is likely to play, that is the current status. We have a feeling that he will play in this coming IPL." Excluding the 2016 and 2017 seasons when CSK was suspended, Dhoni has been a constant face in this franchise. His return for IPL 2026 will be his 17th season at CSK and 19th overall in the IPL. So far, Dhoni has played 248 matches for CSK, scoring 4,865 runs and leading the team to five IPL titles, in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. In all, he has 5,439 runs in 278 IPL matches, along with 158 catches and 47 stumpings.
