A Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Monday said that they were good to go for hosting South Africa for a Test series soon. The visiting Cricket South Africa delegation was reportedly satisfied with the preparations. The Bangladesh Cricket Board had reportedly made its bid successful to host South Africa for two Tests, subject to security clearance. This follows the ICC's decision to shift the Women's T20 World Cup from Bangladesh due to the political unrest in the country. A four-member CSA team arrived in Dhaka on 21 September and visited the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on 22 September, which will host one of the Tests. On 23 September, they visited the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur to inspect the facilities and observe security drills conducted by the Bangladesh security forces. On Monday, the BCB cricket operations manager Shahriar Nafees told reporters: "As much as I could gather from their conversations, they are very satisfied. They thanked the BCB and the security forces for arranging everything in such a short time. They will now fly back home and submit their final report while we complete our internal work. "We showed them the protocol BCB usually maintains for any international series. Unfortunately, due to the political unrest, we couldn't host the Women's T20 World Cup." Nafees added: "They had concerns about the situation, so they came to observe the current conditions and how we will maintain security protocols. South Africa has never sent a delegation before, but after we lost the hosting rights to the Women's T20 World Cup, they came to review the arrangements." The delegation included former South African cricketer Farhaan Behardien, currently working as the cricket operations and player engagement manager at the South African Cricketers' Association (SACA), and three CSA officials. BCB officials have met Bangladesh Army and managed a meeting with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) as part of taking security measures. South Africa will touch down in Bangladesh on October 16. The first Test will start in Dhaka on October 21 while the second Test will start on October 29 at Chattogram.
