Cricket will feature at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The game has not been featured at the Olympics in over a century. It appeared last at the 1900 Paris Games, when there was a two-day match played between Great Britain and France. The match has since been regarded as an unofficial Test. At LA 2028, cricket will feature in the fast-paced and thrilling T20 format. Six teams will feature in each of the men's and women's tournaments. Team Size and Athlete Quotas Each team will consist of 15 players. A maximum of 90 athletes have been permitted for men and women both. This translates to six teams per tournament. The International Cricket Council (ICC) consists of 12 full members: Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, the West Indies, and Zimbabwe. There are 94 associate member nations as well. India's men's team and New Zealand's women's team are the reigning T20 world champions. Cricket is among five new sports at the Games, including baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse (sixes), and squash. The cricket venues for the LA 2028 Games remain to be determined. The schedule will be revealed nearer the Games' commencement. The inclusion of cricket in LA 2028 reflects its increasing role in multi-sport games. A men's cricket tournament was contested during the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. Women's cricket first appeared at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. T20 cricket was also featured in the Asian Games in 2010, 2014, and 2023. In Birmingham 2022, there were eight teams that competed in the women's event. At the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games, there were 14 teams in the men's event and nine in the women's event.
