The cricket tournament of the Olympics 2028 may get shifted from the main venue in Los Angeles to New York due to a lack of cricket venues. Carey Wasserman, the chairman of LA28, has informed in a recently conducted press conference that the authorities are still in search of a better spot to conduct the cricket, and LA presently does not have any. Cricket is returning to the Olympics almost after a decade, having played in the 1900 Games for the last time. With the issues regarding the hosting venues, it looks like Cricket is not returning to Los Angeles. Wasserman said following a visit by the International Olympic Committee's coordination commission, "We don't have a cricket venue in Los Angeles. It's a big footprint, and so we want to find the right place for cricket that has the greatest chance for success. If we can find a place for cricket in Los Angeles, in the region, we will. If not, it's incumbent upon us to find the best place to produce the best cricket." Not only that, the venue at Nassau County Stadium on Long Island has impressed the Olympic officials. Reports from different sources in Britain and the United States claim that New York is ready to step in as the host for the T-20 format tournament, anytime, if required. Keeping cricket aside, different other sports in the Olympics 2028 have shifted from Los Angeles. For example, softball and canoe slalom have been shifted 1,300 miles away in Oklahoma. However, shifting matches from the core venue is not unique. During the Paris Olympics, surfing was hosted in Tahiti. Marseille hosted sailing, and shooting was held in Chateauroux. Soccer was played throughout the country. Not only that, it will draw more views, mainly from India, due to the time zone. The time difference between Los Angeles and India is almost 12 and a half hours. That means a match starting at around PDT 10 am is available to the Indians at IST 10:30 pm. On the other side, the East Coast is 9 and a half hours behind India. This means that a match that starts around EST (Eastern Daylight Time) at 10 am will be easily broadcast to the Indians at around 10:30 pm. Earlier, both the men's and the women's tournaments were assigned to the West Coast. But keeping in mind the pros and cons, especially for the Indian Cricket fans, the East Coast may get the hosting responsibilities.
