South Africa has officially confirmed Corbin Bosch as a replacement for the injured Anrich Nortje in their squad for the upcoming marquee tournament, the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy hosted in Pakistan. Bosch, a 30-year-old all-rounder, has impressed in recent performances, making his ODI debut against Pakistan in December. Bosch was also one of the top seamers in MI Cape Town's SA20 campaign, contributing significantly to their success. Alongside Bosch, fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has also been added to the squad as a traveling reserve. These changes come after the withdrawal of Gerald Coetzee, who is sidelined with a groin injury, while Beuran Hendricks and Lizaad Williams are still recovering from their respective injuries. Both Bosch and Maphaka, along with opener Tony de Zorzi, will be flying to Karachi on Sunday to join the South Africa squad for the remaining matches in the tri-nation ODI series against Pakistan and New Zealand. The fast bowler, who has not played international cricket since the 2022 T20 World Cup, was initially set to return for the series against Pakistan but fractured his toe during practice. His absence marks another blow to his ongoing struggle with injuries. Nortje has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy and has also missed previous ICC events, including the 2023 World Cup due to back problems and the 2019 World Cup after breaking his thumb. Injuries have plagued South Africa's fast bowlers this summer, with several key players like Coetzee, Lungi Ngidi, and Wiaan Mulder managing to return, while Nandre Burger and Lizaad Williams remain out for the season.
