After days of confusion, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has finally given the no-objection certificate to Mustafizur Rahman, who was supposed to join the Delhi Capitals as a replacement for the Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. However, the NOC has been granted for just seven days, from May 18 to May 24, 2025. On Friday, BCB officially announced this by issuing a statement. Mitchell Starc has departed from India right after the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at Dharamshala was diffused owing to cross-border tensions. Since then, it was pretty clear that he was not returning to India. After that, many players chose not to return, not just due to clashes with international commitments but also because they were frightened due to the missile exchange between India and Pakistan. And then, Mustafizur was signed. However, for a week, there was confusion regarding his arrival. With Bangladesh to face UAE and Pakistan for back-to-back T20I matches. And Mustafizur was a part of the designated squad. However, with BCB granting him NOC till May 25, Mustafizur will be available for just three matches in the group stage for Delhi Capitals and will have to leave before the playoff starts. He will join the squad on May 18, the very day Delhi Capitals will face Gujarat Titans in the second phase. Whether he will be playing that match or not will be decided by Delhi Capitals management. Meanwhile, on Friday, Mitchell Starc announced he would not return to India for the rest of IPL 2025, following the abandoned match in Dharamsala. This gives him an uninterrupted lead-up to the World Test Championship final. Starc, Delhi Capitals’ top wicket-taker with 14 wickets in 11 games, will be missed. Meanwhile, Donovan Ferreira also won't return. Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs will rejoin, though Stubbs leaves post-league stage for the WTC final.
