The Pakistan Super League 2026 has already sparked a controversy as a report claims of an off-field heated exchange between Australian spinner Adam Zampa and some of the Lahore Qalandars players at a practice session. According to the report, the incident happened while Karachi Kings and Lahore players were training together. The journalist from Pakistan, Sanaullah Khan states that both the teams were practicing in the same location with a net in the middle separating the two outfits. In the process, Zampa came forward to pick up a ball which was apparently not in good shape and said something to a Lahore player. The journalist told the press: “Both teams had a camp together with a net in the middle separating them. Zampa came up to take the ball from Karachi’s net side. So, the ball was in poor condition. Zampa picked up the ball and told one of the Lahore Qalandars players that this ball seems to be yours. The ball was in bad conditions like a tampered ball. So it was said as a taunt." He added: “There 2-3 Lahore Qalandars players were standing, they said, ‘Do check if it is David Warner’s ball.’ On this Zampa got furious." However, the riposte from the Lahore outfit, quickly dragged the discussion back towards the past encounters with Australia, mentioning David Warner, bringing into focus the ball tampering scandal involving Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft in a test match in South Africa in 2018. Zampa, who holds a key position in Karachi Kings was also the Man of the match during the previous encounter between Lahore this season. These two teams lock horns again on 23 rd of April which will have even more spice added to their clash. Though this interaction is based on reports, and is yet to be confirmed by both the parties, it has surely become a talking point for the ongoing PSL 2026.
