A late-night incident has unsettled the Caribbean Premier League. Two players from the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, along with a CPL official, were robbed at gunpoint in Barbados on September 9. The confrontation took place around 2:50 am when the group stopped to purchase food on their way back to the team hotel after leaving a private function. The robbers reportedly targeted jewellery. During the altercation, a firearm was dropped at the scene. Police confirmed that the weapon was later recovered. No names of the affected players or the official have been disclosed so far. Officers also confirmed that an investigation is underway to trace the suspects. A Patriots franchise representative said that the players and official are safe and assisting authorities with the inquiry. A CPL spokesperson told Starcom Network News, “This is now a police matter and we will not comment further while the investigation continues. The focus for CPL going forward will be the wellbeing of those involved.” The Patriots are scheduled to play against the Barbados Royals at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown on September 11. For now, the franchise has refrained from naming the individuals who faced the ordeal, but it has emphasized that team preparations continue under heightened caution.
