India skipper Rohit Sharma said on Tuesday that the coaching method of Gautam Gambhir is different from that of Rahul Dravid, the former head coach of India. However, he was quick to add that he had a fine connection with Gambhir and the new coaching staff. Gambhir took up the position of head coach in July during India's white-ball series against Sri Lanka. Next, he will now lead the team in their first Test series under his coaching, starting against Bangladesh on Thursday in Chennai. Team India won the T20I series against Sri Lanka in Gambhir's first series as coach but lost the ODI series 0-2. Indian team captain, Rohit Sharma said in the pre-series press conference on Tuesday, "Obviously, Rahul bhai, Vikram Rathour (former batting coach) and Paras Mhambrey (former bowling coach) were a different team and it is only acceptable that the new support staff will bring a different perspective,""But the matches that we engaged in (with the new staff) in Sri Lanka, they seemed to be sensible and understanding. Now he will be seen in a coaching role for Rajasthan Royals in IPL. Abhishek Nayar has been roped in as assistant coach and South Africa all-rounder Morne Morkel joins the squad as bowling coach for Team India. Former Dutch all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate also has been named as an assistant coach. While Nayar had been expected, Morkel and Doeschate, who have had brief time working with Gambhir for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Rohit Sharma highlighted his long-time connection with Gambhir from their playing days and his experience with Abhishek Nayar in the Mumbai team to show how well he works with both of them. He added, "It's a new (support) staff for sure, but I have known Gautam Gambhir and Abhishek Nayar long enough. Every support staff has its operating style, and that's what we were expecting."I have worked with different coaches over 17 years of my career, and it's vital to understand that all of them have a unique perspective (about cricket), and it's a must that you adjust with them," said Rohit. Though the Indian captain has never worked directly with Morkel and Doeschate, the 37-year-old said he knows them well enough from their playing days to get along easily. "I have also played matches against Morne Morkel and Ryan ten Doeschate. I have some close encounters with Morkel, but not so much with Ryan, may be a couple of matches. But that doesn't matter. "As of now, there have been no issues or problems as such (with the new set of support staff). We have a great understanding of each other."Good understanding is important, and I have that with them," he added on his dynamics with the new head coach and his team.
