Punjab Kings did something unprecedented in the IPL this Sunday. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, they became the first-ever side to chase a 200+ target against Mumbai Indians. Now, Tuesday is poised for a high-stakes battle for their maiden IPL title against an in-form and confident Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Earlier in Qualifier 1, RCB crushed Punjab Kings in Chandigarh, bowling them out for a mere 101 — the joint third-lowest score in IPL playoff history. But with the rematch in Ahmedabad, Shreyas Iyer and company are ready to reverse the outcome and finally grab the trophy. Here are three weak points in RCB that Punjab could attack to win the first IPL title. Dependence on Virat Kohli, Phil Salt: RCB have distributed the batting workload well this season, with 10 players scoring fifties — a record in IPL 2025. However, at the heart of it all remains Kohli. He has dropped 614 runs in 14 games, marking his third consecutive season with 600+ runs. Kohli continues to anchor RCB's innings, while others bat aggressively around him. With a strike rate of 146.53 and a half-century almost every other game, Kohli remains the highest run-getter for the RCB. Phil Salt is next in line with 387 runs. Kohli has a brilliant record in Ahmedabad, averaging 68.14 after playing 12 matches and run-gathering 477 runs. Punjab must try to break the Kohli-Salt partnership earlier in order to unsettle RCB's rhythm. Punjab will hope that Arshdeep Singh does well in the powerplay. He has picked up 36 of his 77 IPL wickets in the first six overs of the innings. With Kyle Jamieson, Punjab will try to be headstrong early. Jamieson got Kohli out in the 2021 WTC Final and will try to repeat the feat on Tuesday. Death bowling Issues: The bowling attack of RCB depends hugely on Josh Hazlewood, who remains consistent. But doubts have started creeping in due to the others, especially while bowling at the death. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal have leaked runs at 10.46 and 13.33 during overs 16 to 20. Not far behind was Romario Shepherd, who has conceded at 12 per over. In sharp contrast, Hazlewood has only leaked nine. That is exactly what they did to Jasprit Bumrah on Sunday, and if Punjab can repeat that execution, then they might have the edge in the IPL 2025 Final. The RCB middle order has, of course, been a concern for some time. Rajat Patidar looks to have been affected by injuries, Mayank Agarwal has not really shown Devdutt Padikkal-likeisim, Liam Livingstone is out of form and Tim David's fitness is doubtful. In constrospection to situations, they have had moments each, while the top order has mostly carried the hand in scoring. Punjab, with Yuzvendra Chahal in the lineup, would want to put pressure on the RCB middle order should the big-name openers fall early and then control the middle overs to ensure the win.
