Kolkata’s cricketing heart paused for a moment of solemn gratitude. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has paid homage to India’s Armed Forces in a stirring public gesture. A towering banner now drapes the iconic Eden Gardens clubhouse, bearing the words, “Justice is Served! Jai Hind!” It’s not just cloth and paint—it’s a salute in bold letters. A statement from the CAB read: “Our Armed Forces are true heroes.” Through the Navy’s relentless vigilance, the Army’s valor in boots, and the Air Force’s watchful eye from the skies—CAB acknowledged every drop of sacrifice. Snehasish Ganguly, CAB President, struck the right note of patriotism. Echoing the sentiment of a nation, he stated, “We are extremely proud of our armed forces. They are providing us with security and that is why we are living in peace.” This show of respect comes amid a period of national tension. The IPL, with Eden Gardens hosting crucial knockout fixtures, has been temporarily suspended. With Indo-Pak tensions rising post the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, cricket—India’s softest power—has respectfully taken a backseat. A revised schedule will be shared only after inputs from the BCCI and national security advisories. In its official stance, CAB declared: “In these testing times, The Cricket Association of Bengal stands in full solidarity with the nation. We wholeheartedly support the efforts of the Government of India and salute the courage and dedication of our armed forces, whose unwavering service under Operation Sindoor is a source of pride and inspiration for all Indians.” Naresh Ojha, CAB’s Honorary Secretary, thanked stakeholders for their understanding and reiterated that “national interest stands above all else.”
