Having lost the third Test against England by a narrow margin of 22 runs at Lord's, the Indian team will look to stage a comeback in the fourth Test and level the series. The match will be played from July 23 to 27 at Manchester's Old Trafford. India may introduce some changes to their playing eleven for this decisive match. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah may be rested owing to workload management. Prior to the series, it was specifically mentioned by chief selector Ajit Agarkar, coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Shubman Gill, and Jasprit Bumrah himself that the seamer would feature in just three Tests in England. As two out of the initial three have already been featured by Bumrah, there is a high probability that he will be rested in the Manchester Test and then come back for the last one at The Oval. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is also in doubt for the fourth Test. He injured his finger on Day 1 of the Lord's Test and did not keep wickets after the 34th over. If he is unfit, Dhruv Jurel will replace him. Jurel has already played four Tests, with 202 runs scored by him, and impressed with his keeping in the Lord's match. He hasn't made that much of a contribution with the bat in the series and might be replaced by Sai Sudharsan, who was played in the first Test but later was dropped. If Bumrah is rested for the fourth Test at Manchester, Akash Deep could be given another opportunity even though he took just one wicket in the previous match. Arshdeep Singh can also be selected. Since he is a left-arm fast bowler, Arshdeep would provide the bowling attack with variation. The other bowlers present in the team are Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, and Kuldeep Yadav.
