India's star bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, who is battling a back strain, will reportedly be joining the National Cricket Academy within hours and will resume bowling. Jasprit Bumrah was added to the provisional playing squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 despite suffering, while Harshit Rana is playing the three-match ODI series against England. Even though there are possible names as replacements for Bumrah, the BCCI has not announced any official name and is likely to wait for the final day, February 11. According to a report from the Times of India, Bumrah reportedly went through certain scans and is likely to resume physical activity, especially bowling, within the next 48 hours at NCA. A source reported the TOI, “Even if there is a 1% chance, the BCCI is likely to wait. They did the same with Hardik Pandya as they waited for close to two weeks before getting Prasidh Krishna as a replacement. Even when Shubman Gill was down with dengue, they didn’t have any thoughts of looking for a replacement. Yes, those two incidents happened during the campaign, but the approach with Bumrah could well be no different. This is just the deadline to submit the squad, and they could approach the Event Technical Committee at a later stage to seek a replacement if he fails to regain fitness." However, the injury triggered midway, and Mohammad Shami came into the squad and became a star bowler of the tournament. However, the Shami that came back after his own ankle injury does not seem positive enough for the Champions Trophy, especially as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah. However, there have been no official updates on Jasprit Bumrah provided from BCCI even with a few days left for the marquee tournament. Even in the post-match conference of the second ODI at Cuttack on February 9, Ravindra Jadeja and batting coach Sitanshu Kotak also have no information.
