India's record-breaking 295-run win against Australia at Perth under the captaincy of Jasprit Bumrah has somehow covered the humiliation of the 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand. Under Bumrah's leadership, India sealed their only second Test win in Perth, their first since the 2008 WACA triumph, and their second-largest victory against Australia, behind the 320-run win in Mohali under MS Dhoni. Their previous biggest win in Australia was a 222-run triumph in Melbourne under Bishan Singh Bedi in 1977. Jasprit Bumrah, who actually toured Australia as a vice captain, got to lead the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma. A totally young team with two debutants shattered Australia within 104 runs in the first innings, and 238 in the second. The head coach, Gautam Gambhir, who himself was in an uncertain position, made some bold decisions by benching the Ash-Jad duo; however, all came fruitful. The leader Jasprit Bumrah After breaching Australia's hard fortress, Optus Stadium, BCCI posted a video of Jasprit Bumrah, where he was seen elated not just as a bowler, but as leader of the pack too. While he expressed his satisfaction for the win, he did mention about the comeback of his team in this Test. He also said that, getting all out at 150 did not create any pressure in the dressing room. They had faith in their skills and had executed them accordingly. In a video posted by BCCI, Bumrah was heard saying "More than the 5-for, I'm very happy with the win. Because you know, we're playing with a new side and everybody was really confident of their ability. So we had a lot of discussions. To walk the talk is always a special feeling." "Proud" captain for Rana and Reddy In the first inning, Harshit Rana took the important wicket of Travis Head, later taking Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon. In the second, he took the final wicket of Lyon, finishing off the Test match. On the other hand, the other debutant scored crucial runs for the team in both innings (41 and 38) apart from taking Mitchell Marsh's wicket in the second. Very happy for them. The calm and composure that both of them had and the ability and the faith on their ability. Because they were playing their first test but didn't get overawed or not nervous, or wanting to take responsibility, coming to me and when asked to do the tough job, were ready to do it. Very happy and positive signs for us." However, he reminded that the job is still unfinished, as the series is not over yet. There is a lot more to learn and improve before walking into the second Test at Adelaide.
