Experienced batsman Brendan Taylor is ready to return to international cricket, as his three-and-a-half year suspension for violating ICC's anti-corruption code came to an end. Taylor was serving the suspension since 2022 after failing to report an offer and receiving gifts and money for spot fixing matches by an Indian businessman. The identity of the businessman is still not known until today, but according to Taylor, he had recorded the cricketer of taking cocaine, which was purportedly used as a blackmailing material to ruin his professional cricketing career. The cricketer feels that he has learned his lesson the hard way, and with his new beginning in the national team, he will try to contribute something more than his mere presence. He also wants to complete his duties and responsibilities as a part of the team, which are at par with his potential. The 39-year-old will be returning to international cricket in the near future, and if stars and luck favour him, he could find himself as a part of the ODI team before the 2027 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Zimbabwe together with neighbour Africans. Here is what Taylor was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo: "I've been humbled properly. I look forward to really just adding value, which I probably didn't do to the best of my ability when I was there before," Also Read: Australia creates record with 5-0 win in T20I series against West Indies Craig Ervine Delighted to Welcome Brendan Taylor Back Taylor has endured the whole ban period, culminating on July 25, with utmost honesty and is now ready to celebrate a Test squad comeback with the second match of the current series against New Zealand. Captain Craig Ervine also added that Taylor, his senior, has worked day and night to ensure his return to the team, and the whole team is eager to welcome him back into the squad. Here is what Ervine said: "He'll obviously be available for the second Test. But I also know how hard he's worked in his individual capacity - especially over the last eight, ten [or] 12 months - in order for this to happen. I'm very excited to have him come back into the space in the next few days, and looking forward to what he has to contribute towards the team and the group," The second Test of the series will commence on August 7, and will be hosted at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The opening match of the series is on, where Zimbabwe are batting first after winning the toss against the Mitchell Santner-led team. Taylor will be keeping a close eye on this match to test the opposition bowling attack before his comeback game.
