In match number 68 of IPL 2026 played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, the Punjab Kings romped to a seven wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants. It looked as though LSG were completely in command for a large part of the game before PBKS made a stunning turnaround thanks to an unbeaten hundred from captain Shreyas Iyer. Lucknow Super Giants are already out of the playoffs before this match. However, you would expect that they'd want to sign off on a good note in their last match at home. LSG scored an impressive 196 runs in the first innings and their bowlers have got off to a very good start in the second innings. Punjab Kings however proved why they are arguably one of the best franchises of the league this season once again. Skipper Shreyas Iyer took the team home with one of the innings of IPL 2026 so far, remained unbeaten at 101 off 51 deliveries and sealed the win for his team in the 18th over. A mighty six from Iyer brought up his maiden IPL century, and sealed a much-needed victory for Punjab Kings. The partnership that PBKS captain Iyer put on with Prabhsimran Singh completely shifted the momentum, putting the Lucknow bowlers on the back foot once again. This was also Punjab Kings 4th successive victory against Lucknow Super Giants since 2025. In addition to this, PBKS have won 3 of their last 4 matches against LSG at the Ekana Stadium. It was a tough season for LSG who suffered another defeat to end the season in disappointment. Captain Rishabh Pant was clearly disappointed with the result, but remained pragmatic, highlighting some of the positives from a very disappointing season. Another hard night for the LSG and Rishabh Pant Rishabh Pant said at the post-match presentation. "Initial thoughts are, It's a tough one, we have to bite the bullet, keep our head high, it has been a lot of learning ... Tough season for us for sure, I think we scored enough. It's harder in the second innings because the batting gets easier; that's why everyone wants to field first. As a team, we want to look at the positives." Rishabh Pant went on to praise some of the players in his team who excelled even in the face of this tough season: "Josh Inglis, Mitch Marsh, Prince had a terrific season, Mohsin coming back from injury ... Shami bhai. Definitely a lot of positives. It's been a long season, but we promise to come back stronger next year." The Punjab Kings will take a lot of confidence from this performance ahead of the next round of the tournament, while the Lucknow Super Giants will head home with another night of missed opportunities and learning to ponder.
