The blow resulted in a muscle tear, and he had to depart the field. The injury is severe enough to prevent him from continuing to keep wickets, but not severe enough to exclude him entirely. Despite of the injury, Pant has rejoined the team on Day 2. He will be kept as a batter at hand if the team requires him, though his mobility will be restricted due to the injury. India will bank on Pant's batting in the next innings as they attempt to create a good total. In the meantime, Dhruv Jurel will be important behind the wickets so that India doesn't miss Pant's glovework.
