A fine of 15% of his match fees was handed to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Head Coach Andy Flower for arguing with umpires during the tight encounter against Mumbai Indians at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur when the former emerged victorious on the last ball by two wickets. The confrontation had occurred in the last few overs of the game when RCB were chased down their target but had been irked by a controversial boundary decision that looked to have been a six. The boundary debate took place in the 18th over of the RCB innings when Krunal Pandya mistimed the ball in the air close to the boundary. Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir attempted to save the boundary and after it seemed that Naman Dhir's throw back into the play saved the boundary while Tilak Varma, while trying to grab the ball, would have just brushed against the rope. Controversial Boundary Decision Led to altercation between Flower and Umpires The ball was hit over to the boundary, but it appeared to have not been grounded inside. Tilak Varma tried to take it as it bounced close to the rope, but appeared to have touched it. Naman Dhir had thrown the ball into the play after getting near the rope. However, in trying to check if he has stepped on the rope or not Naman Dhir had tried to step inside from the rope boundary after throwing the ball and Tilak Varma was jumping at the boundary while trying to get the catch. The third umpire checked multiple replays to see if any boundary was there and what would have happened. But there was no decision, finally umpires decided there was not a boundary after that it was not a six but the RCB players did not look satisfied with this. It was then when RCB team mentor Dinesh Karthik and Andy Flower went to the fourth umpire to confront them regarding the boundary decision.
