South Africa has suffered a major setback on the eve of its three-match ODI series against Pakistan. Star young prodigy Dewald Brevis has been ruled out with a low-grade shoulder muscle strain ahead of the series that kicked off in Faisalabad Today.   Brevis had sustained the injury during the third T20I in Lahore on Saturday. The 22-year-old batter will be rehabilitating but will remain with the squad in Pakistan until the upcoming South Africa tour of India that commences later this month. So far, the Proteas have not named a replacement for Brevis.   Brevis' Struggles with Form Continue   Prior to injury, Brevis has played all matches on the tour thus far. He had his best outing in the Gaddafi Stadium in the second Test with a score of 54 runs in the second innings.   Despite his ability and talent, Brevis has failed to make a mark in the international cricket. Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada, senior players, were already rested for the limited-overs leg. Fast bowlers, Kwena Maphaka and Anrich Nortje are also nursing injuries.   Matthew Breetzke, who only made his debut earlier this calendar year, will captain the ODI side. South Africa will rely greatly on Quinton de Kock, who is returning to the 50-over fold after reversing his retirement.   South Africa drew the Test series 1-1. But Pakistan won the T20I series 2-1. Now, the ODI series moves to Faisalabad, which last hosted men’s international cricket way back in 2008. . After the Pakistan tour, South Africa takes off to India for two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is starting on the 14th of November.
