Will KL Rahul play in the Adelaide Test? Ahead of the second Test in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, KL Rahul has indicated a positive response, as he said, that the team has clarified his position in the team but has been asked not to disclose it. KL Rahul, who had opened the first Test at Perth in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, has confirmed his flexibility anywhere in the team. Speaking to the press, he said that he just wants to be in the team and contribute runs, be it any at any position. On December 4, in a press conference ahead of the second Test, he said, “I have been told, but I have also been told not to share. You will have to wait for Day 1 or maybe when the captain comes here tomorrow.” He added, "I just want to be in the playing XI, go out there and bat and play for the team. I just go there and try and see what I need to do to get runs in a particular situation. Luckily I have batted in different positions. Early on, when I was asked to bat at different positions, it was a bit of a challenge mentally. How to play those first 20-25 balls? how early can I attack? Those things were a problem earlier, but it has gotten easy with the experience of playing in different formats." Fixing KL in the team means axing Dhruv Jurel as both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will return to the playing XI. Debdutt Paddikal, who has not been impressive enough, will be the possible victim of Gill's return. On the other hand, if KL sticks in, which is obvious, either him or Rohit will bat down the order, confirming Jurel's exit. To the press, he said, "I was told quite early that I will be opening. I did not play the whole New Zealand series, and I was told fairly early that I might get a chance to open the innings. I got enough time to prepare. It is something that I have done a lot, so I knew how I was going to get my runs and what processes I needed to follow." KL Rahul suffered an unjust LBW in the first inning at Perth but batted in the second until he and his partner Yashasvi Jaiswal engraved the highest ever opening partnership of 201 runs. Notably, Rahul has been an opener as well as middle-order batter, batting at No. 3, 4 5 and even 6, when needed
