Beth Mooney again showed why she is among the most consistent batters in world cricket. The Australian sensation played a gritty knock when her team needed it the most. In the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 against Pakistan in Colombo, Mooney scored her very first World Cup hundred, saving Australia from a precarious situation and taking them to a fighting score. Australia was in trouble deep at 76 for 7 but Mooney stood firm. She scored a fantastic 109 runs and helped Australia in reaching a total of 221 on the board on Wednesday (October 8). Not only did her innings inspire Australia, but she also made history in women's cricket. She began cautiously, rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking. However, things deteriorated rapidly as Australia went from 55/2 to 76/7. As wickets continued to tumble at the other end, Mooney was unperturbed and composed. Her temperament and technique were at their best during the collapse. She first established a solid partnership 39 runs with Kim Garth, bringing a halt to regular fall of wickets. Following Garth's dismissal, Alana King joined her at the crease, and the two started rebuilding the innings. Mooney brought up her half-century in the 34th over and thereafter picked up the scoring rate. With Alana King standing in for her splendidly, Australia was able to stage a comeback.
