The England all-rounder Benjamin Stokes has been ruled out of cricket for at least three months, owing to a tear in his left hamstring. Stokes has been suffering from the hamstring issue since a long time and has reappeared in the third Test against New Zealand at Hamilton. At Hamilton, Stokes was seen limping and clutching his left hamstring. This had happened in the 13th over, and Stokes had to leave that over to Jacob Bethell, who completed the over. In the Christchurch Test also, he walked out in the middle of the 20th over due to his hamstring problems. Even though the Englishmen secured a 2-1 win over New Zealand, Ben Stokes absence will be major damage. While heading into the Hamilton Test, Stokes had assured, "I have to work so much harder on the physical side of the job to allow me to go out and do my job but I got a good amount of overs in during the last two games and I am more confident about getting through a lot of spells in a day. That is where I got to before I pulled my hamstring. I bowled nice in the summer, had a setback but now feel out of that and not worrying about anything else happening again. As you get older you think about your body a bit more but I work harder because I have to." Read also: Good news for India: Travis Head doubtful for Melbourne Test? The hamstring lingering Stokes Stokes has been suffering from the hamstring, undergoing long breaks and missing tournaments. After the 2023 ODI World Cup, he underwent knee surgery in October. That cost him a prolonged rehabilation time, leading to a delayed return in competitive cricket. Not only that, he was not in full use for England during the World Cup itself. In the Test series against New Zealand, Ben Stokes reportedly surpassed his worldload, becoming a major cause of his struggle. Nevertheless, he is going to miss the Hundred tournament next year, as it will commence on January 9.
