As reported by the Telegraph, England’s Test skipper Ben Stokes is planning to skip the IPL 2025 to focus on international matches. This is not the first time the allrounder is taking his part away from IPL to focus on international matches coming around. He also missed the last season of the IPL because of the same reason. He was the part of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023; CSK picked him up in the auction for a huge amount of 16.25 crores. He was also struggling with his fitness in that season after being the most expensive player for the Yellow Army. He only managed to play a few matches, and he failed to bring his show into the play for CSK. This rule says if a player does not come to the mega auction, then he will not be able to register his name in the mini auction. He is already 33 years of age now, and till the next mega auction he might be retired from international cricket as well, and then it will be very tough for him to get back into the IPL at the age of 37 or 38. He has played for 3 franchises in the IPL (RPS, RR, and CSK), but he could not repeat his international brilliance in the IPL. He only justified his potential in his very first season with the Rising Pune SuperGiants, where he helped his team reach the final in 2017 under the leadership of Steven Smith. In his IPL career, he has played 45 matches, scored 935 runs at a strike rate of 133.95, and picked 28 wickets.
