Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram has finally reacted to the ongoing comparisons between himself and India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Akram, widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, believes it is unfair to compare bowlers across different eras of cricket. Speaking on GEOTV’s ‘Haarna Mana Hai’ show, Akram praised Bumrah’s remarkable talent and credited the Indian cricket board for managing his workload well. Akram said: "Jasprit Bumrah is a wonderful bowler. He has an odd action, has pace, and credit to the Indian cricket board for the way they manage him and their mindset. Comparisons between the 90s and now is impossible. He is right-handed and I am a left-armer. We keep social media debates. Begani Shadi Me Abdulla Diwana. Nor I care nor he cares. They are fighting among themselves. He is a modern-day great. I was in my era. I did my job. He is a very impressive bowler, I must say." He referred to the fact that T20 cricket changed batting strategies, increasing the burden on bowlers. Former Pakistani pacer added: "There was no T20 cricket at that time. It is difficult to compare. At that time, batters used to leave bad balls in ODIs; now in Test cricket, players also attack. Bowlers are under double pressure. Hence, era to era cannot be compared. Jasprit has more chances of picking wickets as batters are playing shots. As a bowler, I will enjoy if batters are playing shots. In our time, batters used to defend all day." Career Stats of Two Great Pacers Wasim Akram's storied career featured 414 wickets in 104 Tests and 502 wickets in 356 ODIs, securing his spot among cricket's all-time greats. While doing all this, Jasprit Bumrah, with his unconventional action and talent to perform across formats, has already made history. In 48 Tests, Bumrah has 219 wickets at a world-record average of 19.82. He has 149 wickets in ODIs and 82 in T20Is as well, making him one of India's greatest pacers.
