In the aftermath of the horrific Pahalgam terror attack, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla has drawn a firm line. Speaking to Sports Tak, Shukla clarified that there is absolutely no question of a bilateral series between India and Pakistan. The attack, carried out by militants believed to be part of The Resistance Front, claimed 26 innocent lives and left several injured. As India mourned, the nation’s sporting community reacted sharply. Former cricketers voiced their pain and fury, but none more so than Shreevats Goswami. He openly urged the BCCI to sever all cricketing ties with Pakistan. Shukla echoed that sentiment and said the BCCI would mirror the Indian government’s stance on the issue. He made it clear: bilateral cricket is off the table. The emotional scars left by such mindless violence are not just national but deeply personal. He said, "We are with the victims and we condemn it." "Whatever our government will say we will do. We don't play with Pakistan in bilateral series because of the government stand. And we will not play with Pakistan in bilaterals going forward. But when it comes to ICC events, we play due to ICC engagement. ICC is also aware whatever is happening they will look into it" Read also: Kohli vs Sandeep Sharma: Key Battle in RCB vs RR Clash India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series in 2013. Since then, the two cricketing giants have faced off only in global competitions like the World Cup, Asia Cup, or the Champions Trophy. Notably, India refused to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy earlier this year, opting to play in Dubai instead. India came out victorious in their only encounter against Pakistan during that tournament. This strong response from the BCCI isn’t just about sport—it’s about solidarity. It’s about sending a message that cricket cannot be played in the shadows of bloodshed. As of now, the doors to bilateral cricket with Pakistan remain firmly shut.
