The young all-rounder got a chance to make his debut during the series and also made a strong impact, accumulating 90 runs and taking three wickets in three matches. A selection for that series would mark a significant milestone in his rapid ascent in Indian cricket. Additionally, India is considering Shardul Thakur for the all-rounder role in the Test squad. Thakur, who last played a Test match earlier this year against South Africa, has returned to form after an injury and is currently playing in the Ranji Trophy to strengthen his case for selection in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. According to reports, the selection committee will meet after India’s second Test against New Zealand in Pune.
