India won their ninth Asia Cup title by defeating Pakistan by five wickets in the final match at Dubai. Though the win did not amaze everyone, the manner in which the final was taken to the last over kept supporters at the edge of their seats. Though Pakistan lost nine wickets for 33 runs, India's chase was uncertain as the top order did not perform. Ultimately, Tilak Varma took the team to victory with an undefeated 69, supported by Shivam Dube's 22-ball 33. Massive Reward from BCCI The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had rewarded the support staff and players with a special award of ₹21 crore. The enormous reward eclipses the formal Asia Cup winners' prize money of only ₹2.6 crore (USD 300,000). BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia issued the confirmation, describing it as a big celebration. He told PTI: "It was (an) extraordinary victory and therefore as a part of celebrations, BCCI has announced a cash award of Rs 21 crore in favour of the players and the support staff who are part of the Indian team in the Asia Cup." He also stated: "That money will be distributed and this is a big reward for our team and the Indian cricket board as well as the people of India. We are extremely proud of our cricketers and the support staff for their superb performance in Dubai." This gesture once again showed BCCI’s financial strength. For example, after the 2024 T20 World Cup win, BCCI had given the team a record ₹125 crore, while ICC’s official prize was only about ₹20 crore.
