The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) faced a huge monetary setback as it had to lose its lead sponsor Dream11 following the acceptance of the Online Gaming Bill in the parliament a week ago. This has led to an early withdrawal of the highly popular fantasy sports platform as the sponsor of the Indian cricket team in a deal that had been worth INR 358 crore when signed. But the BCCI has said it has apparently set its eye on procuring a new sponsor. At present, the BCCI is seeking a sponsor ahead of the Men's T20 Asia Cup 2025, which gets underway from September 9. There is also a Women's ODI World Cup coming up, to be co-hosted by India Women and Sri Lanka on September 30. As such, the country's top cricketing governing body is stressing over bringing on board a new lead sponsor. As per NDTV, the fresh agreement with the fresh lead sponsor would cost a staggering INR 450 crore, an increase of over 25 per cent from the previous one with Dream11, which concluded around a year prior to the initially agreed term of three years. Reports indicate that the Indian team will receive INR 3.5 crore per bilateral series for about 140 matches up to 2028, while multinational competitions will generate INR 1.5 crore per match.
