The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will honour the Indian Armed Forces during the IPL 2025 final with a willful intent to salute the military in light of recent border matters. The final is set for June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, wherein the BCCI has requested to specifically honour the valor and work of the armed forces during these times. Earlier this month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) temporarily paused the tournament for 10 days due to rising tensions with Pakistan. Notably, northern India directly suffered a serious missile attack during that pause. The Indian Armed Forces launched a counter operation. Many Indian cricketers celebrated the military's decisive response. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that this year's closing will acknowledge the armed forces in a very generous manner. The closing ceremony will have invitees from the top brass of Army, Navy, Air Force, and Defence Staff attending on the June 3 ceremony. The BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated: “The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation. As a tribute, we have decided to dedicate the closing ceremony to the armed forces.” Since IPL action has resumed post Operation Sindoor, a number of venues have honored the armed forces. At Wankhede Stadium, fans chanted 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai,' big screens flashed thank you messages to the Army, and players sang the national anthem prior to the games. With over one lakh fans projected in the stadium, IPL 2025 final should be an emotional experience steeped in patriotism for everyone that attends.
