Arhdeep Singh in recent days has gained appreciation for allowing his girlfriend to make a little mess, even to carry her bunny. But letting her be with him on the team bus—how is that allowed? Around May 11, the BCCI issued some strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that officially restrict any unauthorized members, including girlfriends. Despite those, Punjab Kings fast bowler clinging to his girlfriend raises the obvious question: are BCCI rules vague? Arshdeep Singh has recently been in a relationship with social media influencer Samreen Kaur. And since, the duo has been everywhere holding hands. Recently, a video surfaced on social media where Samreen was seen following Arshdeep to the team bus. This happened to be in the Lucknow Airport, as Punjab would face the Lucknow Super Giants in a must-win fixture. BCCI Hands Punishment to MI Captain What are the BCCI SOPs? On May 11, BCCI published a 8-page long mandate that bars unauthorized access to players' facilities and restricted zones. It has been given to all the 10 franchises. It also clarified that any protocol bridge will be flagged by the Board's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). Key mandates of the BCCI directive: Hotel Room Access Restrictions: Guests and family members are strictly banned from entering a player’s or support staff member's private hotel room without prior written authorization from the Team Manager. Public Area Meetings Only: Players must meet all unapproved visitors and guests exclusively in public hotel areas, such as the lobby or reception lounge. Strict Match-Day Zone Barriers: Franchise owners and their associates are prohibited from physically accessing or communicating with players in restricted Player and Match Officials Areas (PMOA), including the dugouts, dressing rooms, and the playing area during a live match. Travel and Transport Control: Non-accredited individuals are strictly barred from travelling on team buses or staying within designated team blocks at franchise hotels. Accreditation and Tracking: Players, support staff, and franchise representatives must visibly wear their accreditation cards at all times across all venues. Additionally, any player leaving the hotel at irregular hours must clear it with Security Liaison Officers. Honey traps, or rather girlfriends are not allowed to access team hotels or travel with squad members. Even though rules permit wives and immediate family members, several off-field controversies have made the BCCI crack down on the growing girlfriend culture.
