The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that India men's cricket team white-ball tour to Bangladesh has been postponed. In an official announcement made on July 5, BCCI asserted that the series, previously scheduled to be played in August 2025, will now be held in September 2026. The tour was originally to comprise three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The tour, though, has been delayed by more than a year due to recent events. The BCCI also stated that the new dates and complete schedule will be informed later. BCCI's statement read: "The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have mutually agreed to defer the white-ball series, three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals, between Bangladesh and India in August 2025 to September 2026." It added: "This decision has been reached following discussions between the two Boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams. The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course." 🚨 NEWS 🚨Rescheduling of India’s white-ball Tour of Bangladesh.Details 🔽 #TeamIndiahttps://t.co/qaOWJBgJdu — BCCI (@BCCI) July 5, 2025 Also Read | Siraj Shines Without Bumrah as Arshdeep’s Mic Moment Goes Viral Diplomatic Issues Behind the Delay Last week, there were reports from the Bangladesh Cricket Board indicating that the tour was awaiting clearance from the Indian government. The same was reported by Indian media outlets. It seems that the delay is due to increasing diplomatic tensions between India and Bangladesh. These tensions started after a massive public protest in Bangladesh, which resulted in the change of regime of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August 2024. Political shifts in Dhaka since then have created some uncertainty in cross-border occurrences, including cricket tours. Both of them already retired from T20Is and recently also announced their retirement from Test cricket a couple of months back. They were supposed to feature in the 50-over version of the game during the Bangladesh series. Bangladesh last toured India in September–October 2024, featuring two Test matches and two T20Is. That tour proceeded without any troubles, but this current political climate has hampered this upcoming tour.
