The Board of Cricket Council in India has published the revised travel allowance policy of appointed staff. Earlier BCCI staff were paid according to the duration of the tournament. But as per the new policies, they will be paid equally, but they can claim only percentages of it in case their traveling is restricted or limited. According to the previous rules, a staff member assigned for a four-day tour or less, suppose for a series, would be paid INR 15,000 per day. While someone assigned to a long league like that of the Indian Premier League will get INR 10000 per day. Normally, IPL happens for a few days more than two months, that is, 70 days at max. In that case, he/she will be paid INR 7 lakhs. The same will be applied for the Women Premier League or any ICC or ACC events in India. However, initially a one-time incidental amount of INR 7,500 was provided to them. However, as per the revised allowance rules, these slabs will no longer exist. All staff members, irrespective of the number of days they are assigned to work, will receive INR 10,000 per day. After all the tax deductions, the amount will be reduced to around INR 6,500. However, there is a catch. Someone who does not require spending all their time on the road will have to claim a percentage of the total amount. Say for example, someone who does not require rigorous traveling throughout a tournament can claim 60 percent of the allotted allowance. And someone who does not require traveling at all can have 40 percent of it. For a staff member travelling abroad, he/she will be paid USD 300 per day, which is almost 25,800 as per Indian currency. On the other hand, honorary office-bearers — such as the president, secretary, treasurer, vice-president, and joint secretary — receive a daily allowance of USD 1,000 during their official trips abroad. For meetings within India, they are compensated Rs 40,000 for a single-day meeting and Rs 30,000 per day if the trip extends over multiple days. Notably, this glitch has caused a delay in paying the members their allowances since January. With things being sorted now, BCCI is looking to clear all the payments as soon as possible. A BCCI official said, "A clear cut policy was needed in terms of allowances as some employees were claiming allowances even when they were operating out of the Mumbai headquarters during tournaments. Now that it has been devised, the dues will be cleared soon."
